    Where to post an introduction?

I'll post here; I like the idea of being able to connect and share with others; especially those who may be like me, burned out on all the huge groups/lists out there. I unsubbed from them all, because I felt like they were taking up all my time and I was spending more time online trying to keep up, than I did on my projects. The BAD news is, I am rather isolated, and without input and critique, I tend to stop working. So, I am looking for friends who may be interested in pushing the envelope with their fiber art, not just quilts... and who may not be getting their needs met in a local or online group.

In other words, I know that somewhere out there, my group exists. I am looking for you, are you looking for me? Ideally, I hope that this new place, this forum, is going to be a meeting place for those of us who are feeling like a square peg trying to fit into a round hole, wherever we are in this great big international community!

Oh, BTW, Hi! I'm Elaine and I am addicted to fiber! Wink

    Hi Eliane,

Susan Sorrell here and I too am addicted to fiber and mixed media. I met my husband on the  Internet and teach online classes. So, the Internet has had a HUGE impact on my life. Big Smile  I started an online network for fiber artists at www.ning.com, because I wanted to have a network of artists I could talk to and share my work. http://fiberartsmixedmedia.ning.com/

I found Quilter's Threads through Diane because I will be teaching some fiber art classes for Quilter's Threads in 2008. ;) If you would like to see my work go to www.creativechick.com. I love teaching online classes because I meet so many interesting people from all over the world.Wink

    Hi Eliane,

Check Susan's link. She is most interested in the areas you talk about. I just joined a group she told me about http://fiberartsmixedmedia.ning.com/. You can see my posts there. Perhaps soon I will be able to take advantage of all that group offers. Right now I am more than swamped trying to get online classes started, doing the online store,  starting a pattern business and designing web sites for people are taking at least 200% of my time. LOL

I have wonderful internet friends all over North America and Europe that I keep in touch with and visit sometimes.

I like to dabble in the more experimental fiber arts, but mostly use some of the techniques to enhance more traditional methods (not necessarily traditional like double wedding ring, but rather I keep one foot in traditional quilting expression and like to try new things).

I hope you check out the link above and I meet up with you there.
